🌿 In the Beginning + GOD + A  Poem

In the beginning—before time began,

Before the forming of earth or of man,

There was God in His glory alone,

Eternal, unchanging, upon His throne.

No sun in the sky, no stars shining bright,

No day and no darkness dividing the night,

Just God in His fullness, silent and still,

Yet all of creation lay under His will.

Then God spoke a word—so simple, yet grand,

And light burst forth at His mighty command,

Darkness was scattered, shadows took flight,

For God had spoken—“Let there be light.”

He stretched out the heavens so vast and so wide,

Placed stars in their courses, the moon as a guide,

The sun in its strength to govern the day,

All moving in order, none going astray.

He gathered the waters, the oceans did roar,

He lifted the mountains, He fashioned the shore,

The earth clothed in beauty, in green and in bloom,

Where once there was emptiness, silence, and gloom.

The birds filled the heavens, the fish filled the sea,

The beasts roamed the earth, all formed perfectly,

Each life by His wisdom, each breath by His grace,

All held together in time and in place.

Then God, in His mercy, did something so grand,

He stooped to the dust and fashioned a man,

In His very image, with purpose and breath,

A soul made for life—not destined for death.

He placed him in Eden, a garden so fair,

With rivers that flowed and beauty to spare,

Then made him a helper, a partner, a friend,

A love from the Lord that would never end.

And God looked down on all He had done,

The stars, and the earth, and the moon, and the sun,

The man and the woman, the land and the sea—

“It is very good,” said God tenderly.

But man in his weakness turned from God’s way,

And sin cast a shadow where once there was day,

Yet God, full of mercy, did not let it end,

For He had a plan the world could not mend.

Through prophets and promise, through time and through grace,

God unfolded His love for the lost human race,

Until in the fullness of time He came near,

In Jesus His Son, our Saviour so dear.

He walked among men, yet carried our pain,

He suffered the cross, bore sorrow and shame,

But death could not hold Him—He rose from the grave,

Victorious, mighty, all powerful to save.

So what has God done? Oh, what has He achieved?

More than the heart of man has conceived,

He created, He formed, He redeemed and restored,

He conquered the grave—He is still the Lord.

And even today His voice still calls,

Bringing light into darkened halls,

For the God of beginning, the Ancient of Days,

Is still working wonders in marvellous ways.

In the beginning—God, so true,

And His power still works in me and you. 🌿
