Poem Genesis Chapter 1

Genesis 1 โ€“ In the Beginning**

In the beginning, before time began,

No mountain stood, no sea, no man,

Just darkness deep and waters wide,

And Godโ€™s own Spirit moving inside.

Then God spoke out, โ€œLet there be light,โ€

And day broke forth from endless night,

He saw it shine, so pure, so bright,

And called the day, and named the night.

The heavens stretched at His command,

A sky above by His own hand,

Dividing waters, high and low,

A place for clouds and winds to blow.

The land appeared, the seas were set,

With trees and plants and dew still wet,

Each seed within its kind to grow,

A living world began to show.

Then lights He placed in heavenโ€™s height,

The sun to rule the day so bright,

The moon and stars to shine by night,

To mark the seasons in their flight.

The seas were filled with creatures great,

And birds took wing in skies of state,

Each one formed by Godโ€™s decree,

Alive and moving, wild and free.

Then beasts of earth came forth at last,

From smallest kind to creatures vast,

And man was made with careful art,

In Godโ€™s own image, set apart.

โ€œBe fruitful, multiply,โ€ He said,

โ€œRule the earth, by My hand led,โ€

All that was made, both land and sea,

Was given into manโ€™s decree.

And God looked down on all Heโ€™d done,

Each shining star, each rising sun,

And saw it goodโ€”yes, very good,

Just as His perfect wisdom would.

So ends the work, the seventh day,

God rested then, He ceased His way,

A holy pause, a sacred sign,

Of rest within the grand design.
