George’s Testimony

My Testimony

Hi, my name is George, and I would like to share my testimony with you for a few minutes.

You can find more Christian resources at GeorgesWebMinistries.com.

Have you ever wondered, when you were sixteen, if you would ever live to be sixty? Well, that was me. It was at the age of sixteen that I gave my life to the Lord Jesus Christ. They call it โ€œsweet sixteen,โ€ and that was over fifty years ago. I can honestly say that the Lord has become sweeter with every passing day.

You see, I didnโ€™t drink, I didnโ€™t swear, and I didnโ€™t even smoke. Thatโ€™s not to say that smoking will keep you out of Heavenโ€”it may simply get you there sooner. I watched my grandfather die from throat cancer. He smoked what they called โ€œWoodbine coffin nails,โ€ and seeing his suffering certainly put me off smoking.

I didnโ€™t take drugs or get into trouble either. There was also a time when I helped care for my brothers and sisters because both my father and mother had to work.

So, what would you think? Surely someone like me would have a good chance of getting into the Kingdom of Heaven.

But the truth is, I was simply on the clean side of the broad road that leads to destruction.

You may ask, โ€œGeorge, how is it possible for someone who lived such a respectable life not to get into Heaven?โ€

The answer is quite simple.

When you were at school, did you ever sit an exam and score 49%? Thatโ€™s a much better mark than 5%, but if the pass mark is 50%, you still fail.

God has also set a pass mark for Heaven.

That standard is not our goodnessโ€”it is His righteousness.

Romans 3:23 says:

โ€œFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.โ€

Notice the word all. There are no exceptions. Every one of us has fallen short of Godโ€™s perfect standard.

Because of that, God made a way so that every man, woman, young person, and child could come to Him.

That is why Jesus died on the Cross at Calvary.

He paid the penalty for our sins. He took our place. God is holy, and He has established only one way into Heaven.

That way is His Son.

To reject Godโ€™s Son is to reject Godโ€™s way of salvation.

If God had said we must buy our way into Heaven, what about those who could never afford it?

If He had said we must climb a mountain carrying a heavy burden to earn salvation, what about those who were too weak to do it?

But because God truly loves you, He provided a way that every person can receive.

John 3:16 says:

โ€œFor God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.โ€

God Almighty gave His Son to die on that Cross so that you could come to Him.

God has given every one of us a free will. He will never force anyone to believe. The choice is yours.

Jesus said in John 14:6:

โ€œI am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.โ€

You can either accept Godโ€™s way or reject it.

The Bible tells us that โ€œall our righteousnesses are as filthy ragsโ€ (Isaiah 64:6). No amount of good works can save us.

So what must we do?

Repent of your sins.

Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to come into your heart and be your Saviour.

The Bible says:

โ€œBut as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of Godโ€ฆโ€ (John 1:12)

And again:

โ€œFor by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.โ€ (Ephesians 2:8โ€“9)

Today, why not repent of your sins and receive Godโ€™s free gift of salvationโ€”the gift that Jesus Christ purchased for you on Calvaryโ€™s Cross?

You can be born again and become part of Godโ€™s family.
