Here’s a poem on the difference between forgiveness and earned respect.

Forgiveness and Respect

The Lord has taught us, “Forgive each one,”
As He forgave through Christ His Son.
Release the hurt, let hatred cease,
And let your heart be filled with peace.

Forgiveness does not say the wrong
Was right, or did no harm for long.
It simply lays the burden down,
And waits upon God’s righteous crown.

Respect is not a gift we claim,
Nor won by title, wealth, or fame.
It grows where honesty is found,
And where true faithfulness abounds.

A promise kept, a truthful word,
A humble life by others heard—
These build the trust that time can prove,
And bear the fruit of Godly love.

The wounds may heal, the scars remain,
Reminders of remembered pain.
Yet grace can bloom where mercy starts,
As God restores repentant hearts.

Forgive, because the Saviour said,
Who for our sins His lifeblood shed.
But walk in wisdom every day,
And let God’s Spirit guide your way.

For trust is built, not bought by speech;
By faithful lives its heights we reach.
Forgiveness God commands us all,
But character stands firm and tall.

So let your heart be free from hate,
And leave revenge to Heaven’s gate.
Forgive with love, yet wisely see:
Respect is earned by integrity.
